In this lecture, Dr. Bickenbach describes the differences and commonalities between embryonic stem cells and somatic stem cells, with an emphasis on stem cells from the skin.
Jackie Bickenbach,
PhD
Dr. Jackie Bickenbach is Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy
and Cell Biology at the University of Iowa. She earned her B.S., M.S.,
M.A., and PhD from the University of Iowa. She then went on to complete
two postdoctoral fellowships in Biological Structure and Cell Biology,
at the University of Washington and Baylor College of Medicine. Her
research involves both identifying the basic biologic characteristics
of epidermal stem cells and developing possible clinical applications
for these cells.
