Raza
Aly, PhD
Dr. Raza Aly is Professor of Dermatology and Microbiology Immunology
at the University of California, San Francisco. He has over 35 years
in medical and clinical research as a dermatomycologist. Dr. Aly employs
his expertise in skin microbiology and ecology for pharmaceutical companies,
government agencies, and clinicians. He earned his Masters in Biology
and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Michigan, Ann
Arbor. In 1969, he received his doctorate in medical mycology from the
University of Oklahoma. Currently, Dr. Aly is in charge of the instruction
of medical mycology and skin microbiology to the dermatology residents
at University of California, San Francisco. He has developed and organized
national and international postgraduate courses and symposia in dermatomycology
and skin microbiology. He is also involved in the development of several
anti-fungal agents to be used to treat fungal infections. Over the course
of his profession, Dr. Aly has published 7 books and over 145 scientific
publications regarding the investigation in pathogenesis of fungal and
bacterial skin infections. His work has been funded by research grants
awarded by the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration,
and NASA.
